A brief history of DOJ- Doors of Jannah

DOJ started where a few brothers from the community got together and brainstormed ideas on how we could serve and be of assistance to the less fortunate people and communities in and around the Table View area.

In 2017 we embarked on, at first serving food to the Dunoon community at the main Dunoon masjid once a month. We then decided to have an Iftaar programme every Saturday during the 2017 Ramadaan month. This Alhamdulillah with the koedrat of The Almighty Allah was a great success.

We also got involved with Masjid Nabewieyah in Dunoon where we provide food once a month simultaneously with the primary Dunoon masjid feeding.

Peace Home, a Muslim-based orphanage for abused and neglected children in our area is another cause supported where we try and assist the house mother financially on a monthly basis.

We also assisted unemployed Muslim people and families with Zakaah monies that we’ve received.

One of our projects included sponsoring a Hifz student on a monthly basis at the Islamic Centre of Table View (2019/20).

We have future plans for more projects but everything is subject to funds. Alhamdulillah, we have one permanent monthly sponsor over and above the monthly sponsors from the DOJ members, and we need more of this type of donors inshallah.

During the month of Ramadaan we continue to support iftaar programmes at the Du Noon Masjid and assist with some repair work at the Masjid Nabewieyah.
